French toast, aka “gypsy toast” or “eggy bread” is cooked bread that is soaked in a beaten egg mixture and then pan-fried. While there are manydifferent ways to make French toast, this is how I make mine–with only 3 ingredients! Of course, this is far from the traditional way of making it but when I’m hungry, on-the-go or in a rush and want a simple, quick yet healthy breakfast, this is definitely one of my go-tos! If you think this is too simple, no worries–I have added optional steps where you have the choice of making it more flavorful to your liking (I actually like to do this when I have more time or am not in a rush to eat). But either way, this is wonderfully delicious, enjoy! Do let me know if you end up trying this!
Recipe: French Toast
Ingredients:
Canola or olive oil and/or non-stick spray
2 slices of bread
2 eggs
Optional:
Butter
4 tablespoons of milk
Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Place a pan over the stove on medium high heat. Add canola/olive oil or non-stick spray (OPTIONAL: add butter here) so the bread will not stick.
2. In a bowl (preferably as flat as possible, see picture), crack the eggs.

3. Beat the eggs with a fork or whisk. (OPTIONAL: add milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract here)

4. Once the pan is heated, turn it down to medium-low.
5. Drench the bread into the egg mixture.

6. Flip, making sure you drench both sides.

7. Place the bread onto the pan.

8. Cook until it turns golden-brown.

9. Place the toast onto a plate.

10. Serve with honey, agave, or maple syrup. Other sides I’d recommend including: fruit (ex. blueberries, strawberries, bananas, etc.), eggs, lean deli meat and/or a glass of milk.

Enjoy!
Tips:
Feel free to adjust this recipe to YOUR liking! Just be careful to not go overboard with the milk–too much milk will make it more difficult for the egg mixture to cook so your French toast may end up being soggy, wet and not so appetizing (unless you prefer that, go for it!).
Be sure to thoroughly mix together the egg mixture and make sure they are well combined.
Be aware of the type of bread you are using, the ideal thickness is three-fourths to an inch thick. Too thick of bread makes it difficult for the toast to cook in the center and too thin of bread makes it difficult for the egg mixture plus the bread to hold together.
Make sure the bread is well-soaked in the egg mixture. That allows for a creamy delicious center for your French toast!
The goal for your French toast is for it to be dry and slightly crisp on the edges.
Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day!!
